"FlyBack is a backup and recovery tool loosely modelled after Apple's TimeMachine." It's already at version 0.4 -- I love Open Source.
It's not very easy to install nor use yet, but give it another year and I'm quite sure something like this is included by default in most of the major Linux distributions.
